The King University women's swimming team competed in their final meet before the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday. The Tornado fell to UNC Pembroke 167-80, but Cassie Lowe broke the school record in the 200 yard backstroke.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lowe won the 200 yard backstroke by eight seconds with a new school record time of 2:11.60.
  • The meet started with the Tornado relay team of Lowe, Abbie Erme, Reese Lauletta and Madi Matthews winning the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:13.04.
  • The group of Samantha Davis, Fanny Legros, Michelle Morlock and Gwen Haag finished in 4:26.65.
  • Lowe won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.36 while Elizabeth Rehkopf came in third with a time of 2:05.83.
  • Legros came in fifth as she touched the wall in 2:09.55.
  • Davis touched the wall in 1:05.60 to finish runner-up in the 100 yard backstroke while Lynsey Knox came in fourth at 1:12.54.
  • In the 100 yard breaststroke, Erme finished in 1:11.68 to take third while Legros finished fourth in 1:14.41.
  • Haag finished runner-up in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.63 seconds. Lauletta finished third at 27.24 seconds while Rehkopf finished fourth at 27.56 seconds.
  • In the 100 yard freestyle, Davis finished third in 58.91 seconds while Rehkopf touched the wall in 59.42 seconds to take fourth.
  • Morlock came in fifth with a time of 1:01.27.
  • Haag came in third with a time of 2:41.60 in the 200 yard breaststroke.
  • In the 500 yard freestyle, Legros touched the wall in 5:39.55 to finish runner-up.
  • Lauletta finished runner-up in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.82 while Morlock came in fifth with a time of 1:10.20.
  • Knox finished sixth in 1:18.74.
  • Haag and Erme finished fourth and fifth in the 200 yard individual medley with times of 2:28.74 and 2:36.48, respectively.
  • The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Rehkopf, Davis, Lowe and Matthews finished second with a time of 1:44.79.

  • Both teams are in action again on February 15-18 at the Conference Carolinas Championships at the Kingsport Aquatic Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
