King University head women's soccer coach Paul Shaw announced the hire of Bridget Frei as an assistant coach.
"The addition of Coach Frei to our coaching team is fantastic for our program," Shaw said. "Her growth mindset stood out as she is always looking to grow as a professional, has proven that she can handle the various tasks of a coach and has a strong leadership background."
Frei holds a US Soccer B License and a US Youth Soccer National Youth License. For the last 12 years, she was a staff coach and program assistant at Ela Soccer Club in Chicago. Her role included managing college recruitment, administrating youth tournaments and coaching travel teams. She also has Olympic Development Program experience in the Midwest region as a staff coach.
"I couldn't be more excited to join the staff of the Women's Soccer program at King University," said Frei. "I've spent my coaching career helping young players develop strong foundations to get them to higher levels of the game and excited for the challenge that coaching, recruiting, and developing at that higher level will entail for myself. I'm grateful for the opportunity that King and Coach Shaw are providing, and I look forward to bringing my experience and philosophy to the culture of King women's soccer."
As a college athlete, she was an all-conference defender at Notre Dame College (Ohio), where she captained the team in her junior and senior year. In 2012, she completed her Masters in Sport Leadership from North Central College.
"Bridget is one of the hardest working and most dedicated coaches I know. She will bring expertise, knowledge and compassion in being a great support to the players, the program and Coach Shaw," said US Soccer Coach Educator/Scout Maren McCrary. "I'm excited for the program and the women involved to have such a great coach and female role model."
Frei and her husband Jake, arrives to Park field with their dogs, Ted and Niko.
