Thinking about a health care career? Northeast State’s Workforce Solutions presents a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) course offering a broad spectrum of knowledge to begin the path forward.

With the first class scheduled Feb. 6, 2023, all course meetings convene on-ground at the Regional Center for Health Professions on the Northeast State at Kingsport campus.  The course requires students to take part in clinical laboratory settings.

Course Dates:  Mondays, February 6 – May 15

Class Hours:  6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Fee:  $1,045 (includes the NHA Certification Exam)  

Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. A CCMA’s duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice. Course topics include patient care; communication; office administration; medical law and ethics; phlebotomy; and EKG monitoring.

Individuals interested in starting a career in the medical field, prospective patient care technicians, or those looking to develop skills can benefit from the CCMA course. This program enables students be a crucial member of a medical team with skills necessary in a variety of health care settings.

Students who complete the course gain technical knowledge required for success when taking the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification examination. The exam is included in the course fee.

Attendance to all classes and clinical assignments is mandatory. Class schedule may be adjusted due to unforeseen causes, such as inclement weather.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says employment in this field is projected to grow more than 20 percent through 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. Individuals interested in starting a career in the medical field or those looking to develop skills may benefit from this program.
