Hailee Blankenship and Katie Harless of the King University women's volleyball team have been chosen as the Conference Carolinas Player and Specialist of the Week.
Blankenship started all three matches last week for King, averaging 3.69 kills and 2.77 digs per set. She started the week with a season-high 18 digs and 13 kills in a win over Erskine before posting 17 kills and six service aces in the Tornado win over Lees-McRae. Saturday against Southern Wesleyan, she set another season-high, this one with 18 kills along with 12 digs. This is the first conference level honor for the junior from Goode, Va.
Harless is a repeat winner of Specialist of the Week after winning the award last week as well. The junior from Abingdon, Va. played in all 13 sets, averaging 9.77 assists and 3.08 digs per set. She posted a career-high 44 assists and 17 digs at Erskine before handing out 36 assists in the win over Lees-McRae. She set another career high in assists Saturday, handing out 47 along with 10 digs and three block assists.
The Tornado are back at home Tuesday night, hosting North Greenville University for their annual white out match. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
