Northeast State Community College to host inaugural Amateur Highland Games | Northeast State Community College
Northeast State is set to host its first-ever Amateur Highland Games on Saturday, April 15 thanks to a partnership with Appalachian Highland Celts and Everblade Academy.
The College’s International Education Program organized the event, which will feature the following competitive activities: caber toss, hammer throw, open stone, Scottish back-hold wrestling, sheaf toss, weight for distance and weight over bar. The games will take place at the Upper Quad of Northeast State’s Blountville campus located at 2425 TN-75 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration is $15 and includes lunch and an event t-shirt. Competitors will play for prizes and are encouraged to wear kilts or comfortable shorts. The deadline to register is Friday, March 24, and a release form will be required for participation.
In addition to Scottish-inspired games and competitions, eventgoers will have the opportunity to watch and learn traditional European wrestling from Everblade Academy experts.
The College welcomes students and the public to the all-day event. To register, click on the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScKK4g69-guYvG5fX5Eviy-79usujxor8L5v_lRIIxwzjQ0wA/viewform.
