Northeast State Community College Graduate’s Design Chosen for New VFD Substation

Northeast State graduate Jonathan Green earned quite an honor when his construction design was selected for use as the model to build a new substation for the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Carter County.

Green graduated from Northeast State with his associate of applied science degree in May. He received the College’s Outstanding Engineering Design Student Award for 2022.

Northeast State Engineering Design Technology instructor, Daniel Arnett, created a competition for his students this spring to design the new 5,700-square-foot substation building. Green along with classmates Laura Franklin, Jonathan Newland, Nate Berning, Jonathan Carter, Ronnie Hobbs, and Blake Robertson submitted their designs of the facility. The class welcomed Stoney Creek Assistant Chief Ken Arnold and past Assistant Chief Benny Lyons to watch the competition.

Carter County Mayor Patty Woodby and the Carter County Commission honored Green at a commission meeting in May.  Congratulations to Jonathan and thank you to the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department for their service.
