FOIA Request to King University Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to King University. This request seeks specific records related to Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university.

The request includes several key points:

1. We are seeking documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals and specify their department of study. If such information is protected, we have requested the total number of these students and a breakdown by department.

2. We have asked for documents detailing any scholarships received by Chinese National students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

3. Additionally, we seek information about any recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council. If this data overlaps with the previous request, we have asked for clarification on which scholarships satisfy this requirement.

4. Finally, we are requesting any policies or procedures that outline how the university monitors students, including Chinese Nationals, to protect its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of Kingsport Reporter and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
